Nature lessons from a school principal in quiet Chikmagalur

“Growing up, children are so much more receptive, curious and inquisitive as they learn to ask questions and perceive the world around them. It is crucial that teachers recognise this and ensure that an intuitive connection to the environment is nurtured,” says the 70-year-old.

I had the delightful experience of meeting a remarkable school principal in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, who has been educating his students about nature and the environment in organic, innovative ways for about fifty years. I wrote a short profile on him for The Hindu. Do read. :)

Battleground of the Bustard

Two more bite the dust of the few hundred that remain. My article for the Deccan Herald on the power lines that line the Thar desert landscapes and are driving the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard to extinctions, and resulting in mortality of several other birds that constitute the unique avifauna of the Thar.
