Baghjan OIL spill, inferno ravages wildlife and communities in Assam

I spent the past week going through photos of dead wildlife - critically endangered, endemic animals, charred to ashes, covered in oil. The tragic casualties of an oil spill and consequent fire (read raging inferno) that ravaged the #Maguri wetland and Dibru-Saikhowa forests of Baghjan, #Assam.

See my report for Conservation India about the irreversible and deep impacts the disaster had on an exquisite mosaic of ecosystems in the heart of the Eastern Himalayas - and the wildlife and communities that depend on these #wetlands.
